A documentary from Core Issue Productions about military family caregivers and their catastrophically wounded veterans.
Filmed over five years, The Weight of Honor follows the lives of the caregivers of veterans who have been catastrophically wounded in America’s longest war. Their lives are transformed overnight to 24/7 caregivers tasked with caring for their war-wounded. The film reveals the family dynamic, their relationships before the wounds of war, and now, the uncertainties that lie ahead.
Less than 1% of Americans are actively serving in the United States Armed Forces. As a result, the lives and stories of our post 9/11, catastrophically wounded veterans and their family caregivers are almost entirely unseen and unheard of in civilian America.
We believe everyone should know about these families after war! Our goal is to spread the word and celebrate these unsung, extraordinary caregivers and their families by bringing The Weight of Honor to as many people as possible. Our approach is to engage local communities, reach out to universities and organizations, attend film festivals, join related events and host special screenings.
If you or someone you know would like to host a screening, or take part in sharing The Weight of Honor, we are currently accepting donations to help with festival and community outreach expenses.
