Recovering from a catastrophic and permanent war injury takes a significant toll on the entire family. Fortunately, there are many organizations and programs providing much needed aid and resources to veterans and family caregivers.
The Military and Veteran Caregiver Network
The Military and Veteran Caregiver Network provides support for caregivers of veterans from all wars, not just post-9/11. The MVCN is an award-winning organization that can match caregivers with a mentor, help them support group and provides secure, peer-moderated online discussion groups-- among many other activities.
Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving: Operation Family Caregiver
Operation Family Caregiver is specifically for families of returning and veteran service members. Their coaches will visit the caregiver's home, or meet by phone/Skype, to customize a 16- to 24-week program that is unique to each family.

Operation Homefront is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive — not simply struggle to get by — in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.

Operation First Response
Our Family Assistance Program was developed with the main purpose of alleviating the financial difficulties facing a wounded Hero’s family. We provide personal and financial services from the onset of the injury or illness, throughout the recovery period, and along the journey from military life to the civilian world.

Best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide.
AARP
AARP is not just for older adults! They also have caregiver resources that can be valuable for military caregiver families. Consider utilizing the resources on this page. AARP is also preparing a caregiving program tailored to caregivers of wounded veterans. In addition, AARP memberships are discounted for members of the military.
