Now Playing On A Small Screen Near You

It’s “street week” here for The Weight of Honor! That means we’re available for sale on iTunes, Amazon, VUDU and other platforms and online stores where you can purchase DVD’s or downloads of the film.

As you can imagine, this is a very important—and even emotional—time for my team and me. We’ve been working on this film for going on six years. I often couldn’t even imagine completing The Weight of Honor, much less see it for sale. I’m thrilled we can finally share the stories of the military caregivers in the film. They deserve to be heard. I can’t thank them enough!

Honoring Our Veterans While Recognizing Caregivers

Our Southern California premiere is this Friday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley. It’s such an honor to be part of their Veterans Day activities.

Then it’s off to Alexandria, Virginia for their film festival on Sunday. Timing is everything: I’ll be in Washington, DC. long enough to attend the 2nd Annual National Convening: The Military Caregiver Journey on November 13. Former First Lady Laura Bush is the keynote speaker and I’ll finally get the chance to meet many of the caregivers who have been great resources for the film.

Going Home For Our First Public Screenings

The rest of next week will be devoted to public screenings in my hometown of Omaha, NE. This will be the first time anyone can come and see The Weight of Honor outside of a festival or convention. The University of Nebraska, Omaha has purchased an Educational License that gives them the option to show the film at any time in perpetuity. They are going to screen our film on campus November 15. There will also be a screening the next night at the Omaha Jewish Community Center. The goal of both these events is to build awareness of military caregiving and to “start a conversation” about how we, as civilians, can support the families of wounded veterans.

If you’d like to purchase an educational license for your academic institution or bring a public screening of The Weight of Honor to your community, you can submit your request using our Host a Screening form.

We'll be fairly busy the next two weeks, take a short break for Thanksgiving, then it's back on the road the first of December where we'll be attending the San Francisco Veterans Film Festival. Being on the road so much can be tricky, but we're always rejuvenated after each screening. Plus it gives us a chance to catch up with familiar faces and meet new friends like you!

If you happen to live in or near any of the cities we're coming to visit, please let us know. We'd love to have you join us for a screening of the film.
